45A Durometer Urethane, 3x6" sheet

$15.00

If you’re interested in using a common bench vice and dies to create dimensional objects, this is the urethane for you!

This listing is for one 3 x 6 x 1/4" sheet of 45A durometer urethane, yellow.

Urethane sheets are used with silhouette or non-conforming dies to create a dimensional object. When sandwiched with a die and a thin piece of metal, the compressed urethane pushes the metal into the die forcing it to take the shape cut into the die. This urethane sheet can be cut with household scissors into smaller pieces thus allowing you to stack the material when extra depth or “intensifiers” are needed.

Other durometers available: 60 Durometer = 3 x 6 x 1/4" Sheet, natural color

Manufactured in the U.S.A.

Please note that this particular urethane does not like the intense pressure exerted by the hydraulic press and may ooze and crumble. It’s much happier when used with a bench vise.

The lower the durometer, the more flexible the material. So, 50 durometer is softer and slightly more fluid under pressure than 60 durometer.

The second and third images show a steel silhouette die with a custom cut steel reinforcer plate for use in a bench vice. 20g mild steel is a good choice for cutting custom reinforcer plates and is available in the shop! https://www.pamfarren.com/shop/p/a0559w33f5a38fo0pii71glp9q1136

Mild steel sheet can be cut using a jewelers saw and good quality 2/0 blades. A HSS twist bit or 1/16” standard drill bit can be used to drill a hole.
